About Pathwork

March 11, 1957

The teachings of the Pathwork come from lectures that were given in the 1950s, ‘60s and ‘70s by a Vienna-born New Yorker named Eva Pierrakos. Eva came to the United States in 1939. Following many years of preparation, she gave her first lecture in New York city in 1957.

March 6, 1979

Eva Pierrakos died in 1979, leaving behind this rich legacy of profound spiritual teachings. She and her husband, John Pierrakos—a psychiatrist and founder of Bioenergetics, and later Core Energetics—also established the first Pathwork Center near Phoenicia, New York in 1972. Along the way, the word “Pathwork” was coined and trademarked. It represents this body of work nicely, combining the concept of walking a spiritual path with the reality that doing so is hard work.

Present

Today, the International Pathwork Foundation is the steward of the Pathwork materials. They are available for free online in written and recorded forms at www.pathwork.org.
