We often think of relationship as a thing that happens in life. It’s something we seek out, full of hope. At times we may have one. Other times not.
But in truth, relationship is one of the primary ways that life itself unfolds.
We are always being drawn into being in relationship with all that is. The life force—our divine expression existing deep inside each of us—exerts an inexorable pull toward union with life.
Yet we resist this movement originating in our divine center, in ways large and small.
Our suffering comes from resisting this pull coming from within us. And this resistance shows up clearly in our communication and relationships with others.
By examining our resistance and suffering in relating to others, we become more capable of moving from isolation to connection.
Relationship, then, is a vehicle for our spiritual development. When we approach relationship from this viewpoint, we build satisfying connections with others.
