About: How consciousness evolves

Humanity evolves in cycles, alternating between periods that emphasize individual development and those that emphasize collective growth. We first cultivate our own inner resources, then come together to communicate, cooperate, and grow with others.

This overlays on the spiral movements we each experience when we do our own work.

We must work out our negativity individually as well as collectively. For the collective soul is the sum total of the individuals. Working in both directions is tremendously important.

The Guide describes the Aquarian Age as a period that brings us closer to overcoming our duality of “me versus the other.” The work we do in groups is a different facet than working by ourselves. It allows us to reveal ourselves and be accepted, which can challenge deeply held misconceptions.

Even the smallest group can learn to live truthfully together and develop genuine affection. This creates an unpretentious way of being that ripples outward, influencing the larger world in quiet but powerful ways.

Individually, it helps a person overcome shame and separateness, so that real living can begin. This reflects the movement into the new era the Guide associated with the Age of Aquarius.

As each of us becomes more honest, more loving and more awake, we don’t just transform our own lives—we participate in the evolution of human consciousness itself.
