Humankind evolves gradually, alternating between phases focused on individuals and then groups, individuals-groups, individuals-groups. We cultivate our own resources and then come together, communicate and interact. This overlays on the spiral movements we each experience when we do our own work.
We must work out our negativity individually as well as collectively. For the collective soul is the sum total of the individuals. Working in both ways is tremendously necessary. In this way, the pendulum swings back and forth, each time bringing us closer to the middle way.
Now, the Age of Aquarius is bringing us closer to overcoming the duality of “me versus the other”. The work we do in groups is a different facet from working by ourselves. It allows us to reveal ourselves and be accepted, which can challenge deeply held misconceptions.
Every smallest group can be truthful together and develop real feelings of affection. The value of this is tremendous, rippling out an unpretentious way of being that has a great influence on a universal scale. Individually, it helps a person overcome shame and separateness, so that real living can begin. This is what has arrived with the dawning of the new age at the turn of the century—the Age of Aquarius.
